Burger + Veggie Fries

Ingredients

  • 1 shop-bought beef, chicken, turkey or plant-based burger (not potato-based)*
  • 150g mixed root vegetable fries (not sweet potato fries)
  • 1 wholewheat or brown burger bun
  • 30g cheese, grated (e.g. cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)
  • 1 tsp mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard or 1 tbsp coleslaw
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1–2 slices red onion
  • Large mixed salad (of your choice: mixed leaves, tomatoes, peppers, red onions, cucumber etc.)

Instructions

  1. Cook the burger in the oven, grill, pan, or air fryer according to the packet instructions.

  2. Cook the vegetable fries according to the packet instructions.

  3. If preferred, split the burger bun and toast it lightly in a dry pan or under the grill until golden.

  4. In the last minute of cooking the burger, sprinkle the grated cheese on top to melt.

  5. Assemble the burger by spreading your chosen condiment or coleslaw inside the bun, then add the cooked burger, tomato slices and red onion.

  6. Serve the burger alongside the vegetable fries and fresh salad and enjoy!

* Note: When choosing a shop-bought burger, look for options that:

  • Are high in protein and made with quality ingredients (e.g. lean meat or whole food plant-based sources)

  • Contain fewer additives and preservatives

  • Have more green and amber traffic light labels, with fewer red

  • Have a shorter ingredient list with recognisable ingredients
